Ares Training Nets Changes

ARES Training Net Changes

The weekly Gwinnett ARES Training Net will undergo significant changes effective March 1, 2017.  The net time moves from 9:00pm (2100 local) to 8:30pm (2030 local) or immediately following the GARS Net if it runs past 8:30.  Instead of the concurrent digital nets using several modes, a digital net will begin at 2100 or 9:00pm.  The digital mode will be used rotating between FLdigi, Packet, Winlink and D-RATS. An HF voice net will be announced on 147.075 repeater and will begin at 2000 or 8:00pm.

The earlier net time will allow members to finish the evening’s net activities earlier.  A new net script can be downloaded here. The Planning Committee continues to focus on developing digital mode capabilities,  By focusing on digital mode each week on a rotating basis, it will allow stations to focus on a mode per net following the regular voice net without having to switch between several modes while keeping up with voice traffic during the net.

All stations are encouraged to develop and practice digital modes and the separate net will allow more practice and assistance during the digital portion of the net.  A weekly schedule of digital modes can be found here.
